The New York Department of Environmental Conservation is taking public comment on a management plan for Bear Spring Mountain campground in the Catskills near Walton, the Associated Press reported.

The plan calls for creation of 15 remote campsites at Launt Pond, construction of accessible paths and a playground, electric hookups, and other improvements.

The campground is in the Delaware County towns of Walton and Colchester in the western Catskills.

The 31-acre campground is part of the 7,141 acre Bear Spring Mountain wildlife management area. It’s popular with hikers, hunters, anglers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.

The management plan is on DEC’s website (http://on.ny.gov/1CeT9p5 ). Comments will be taken until April 30.
