Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) has announced a new owner for the Brattleboro North KOA Journey in Dummerston, Vt., acccording to the Brattleboro Reformer.  Kathryn Berta.

“I was working as a regional sales manager for a startup food company. My background is helping grow brands and get them into local and national retail accounts,” the new owner, Kathryn Berta, said in a statement. “But my husband and I have always been big campers. We have a RV of our own. We wanted to run our own business. When we learned about KOA and that some were available for sale in New England we started our big search.”

That search led them to the Brattleboro North KOA.

“The combination of vintage charm, the great location right off 91, and its size made it perfect for us to start our KOA adventure. We were based out of Massachusetts but we have always been big fans of Vermont and were excited to make it our full-time home,” Berta said.

She has already started to make improvements including the addition of air conditioning and heat to vintage Vermont cottages that were added in the 1940s, sewer projects, upgrading and re-angling sites and adding some KOA deluxe patio sites next fall and spring.

“That’s just the beginning,” Berta said. “We have a lot of projects planned.”

The campground has 47 sites, including RV sites and lodging.
