Liz Waitinas and her son, Nick Larsen, recently purchased the Blue Lake RV Park Resort — located right off U.S. 95 just five miles south of Bonners Ferry, in Naples, Idaho, according to the Bonners Ferry Herald.
Waitinas and Larsen, new to the RV resort business, have been working hard at upgrades since they purchased the property on Sept. 9.
In addition to the already plentiful amenities available for guests, Larsen said they are currently constructing a sauna near the lake, remodeling the bar/clubhouse area, and are putting in more RV sites and another camping cabin.
“I’m loving it,” said Larsen, who is a former dairy farm owner.
The bar/clubhouse is being renovated at this time while business is slow.
“We are installing new flooring, furniture and walls,” said Larsen, “There will be wine and beer, and mimosas. The park will stay open year-round. Some residents stay over the winter; mostly people who are looking for a property to buy or build on.”
This is a change from the previous owners’ management practice. As of right now, there are quite a few long-term customers planning on staying through the winter this year, with the majority of the resort clientele being Canadian or from “out of town,” said Larsen.
The property is a total of 20 well-managed acres that includes 36 RV sites. Pets are welcome and there is an off-leash dog park for visitors to enjoy. An interactive nature trail complete with informational signage explaining various flora located throughout the park is one of the interesting activities for visitors.
Tent camping, small cabins, a pole tent and tipi are among the sites available for rent.
