The West Yellowstone (Mont.) Town Council looked at the possibility of a new RV park opening behind the Imax Theatre, according to the West Yellowstone News.

Yellowstone Hales LLC submitted site and building plans along with their conditional use application for an RV park in the E-2 entertainment zoning district.

The park would be located behind the theater and would provide 25 RV spaces as well as showers and laundry services for the guests. Nearby businesses and property owners were contacted and asked for their opinions concerning the project. The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center found no objection to the plans.

Brian Watson, owner of the Alpine Motel, expressed concern regarding the location of the proposed park, “I’m personally not in favor of an RV park adjacent to the entrance of Yellowstone.”

The council detailed the location of the proposed park and explained that Dunbar Park would sit between Yellowstone Avenue and the proposed RV park.

“The bottom line is that an RV park is an acceptable use in the E-2 district,” said council member Jerry Johnson. The council voted to table the issue until their next meeting, hoping to receive letters from Yellowstone Park and the Grizzly Park architectural committee before proceeding further.
