Motorcycle riders throughout the Northeast are invited to join the second annual Kampgrounds of America (KOA) Fall Poker Run Saturday (Sept. 15) sponsored by the KOA campgrounds at Copake and Saugerties/Woodstock in New York.
The event is an annual fundraiser to benefit KOA Care Camps for children with cancer. KOA Care Camps is a network of 44 specialized summer camps throughout North America that provide a safe, quality summer camp experience for children undergoing treatment for cancer, according to a news release.
The KOA Fall Poker Run will begin with a continental breakfast – donated by Freihoffer Independent route owner/operator Jim Troeger- at the Copake KOA Campground at 2236 county Route 7 Copake, N.Y. The route meanders from Copake through the Mid Hudson Valley with stops at Woodstock Harley which is offering a discount to riders and donated door prizes; the Saugerties KOA and Dad’s Diner for an optional $10 lunch; and ends with final card draw, prizes and entertainment at the Copake KOA. Registration for the event is $10 in advance, $15 day of the event.
The best “poker hand” gathered during the event will split the registration proceeds 50/50 with KOA Care Camps. The second-best poker hand will win a $100 camping certificate, with a $50 camping certificate for the third-best poker hand.
Register for the Poker Run by emailing [email protected], or call the Copake KOA Campground at (518) 329-2811 and ask for Cathy Reinard or Susan Oles.
The weekend is the Value Kard Holders Appreciation Weekend, so all Value Card holders can pay to camp Friday and receive Saturday night free. For camping reservations at the two participating KOAs, go to: www.koa.com/camp/Copake or www.koa.com/camp/saugerties.
