New York state officials are considering adding more rental cottages in Allegany State Park.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has issued a request for proposal to development of additional rental cottages in the popular Southern Tier park. Bids for the RFP process are due back by Feb. 13, Buffalo Business First reported.

Currently, Allegany State Park has 375 cabins to go along with its 424 campsites.

The 65,000-acre Cattaraugus County park and recreational destination attracts more than 1.3 million visitors annually. It is the largest of New York’s state parks.

State officials are looking for more upscale cabins to be developed than the more rustic ones already in the park. The RFP package also includes the option to develop a “Group Camp 10” that would provide a cluster of cabins and services for larger groups.

Allegany State Park’s amenities include two beaches, picnic areas, hiking trails, horseback riding trails, snowmobiling and mountain biking trails.
