Illinois Interactive, an NIC company, has been selected to partner with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) to provide an enhanced licensing system that will deliver modern technology for hunting and fishing licenses, campground reservations, and watercraft and boat registration and renewal, according to a press release.

The new solution will focus on a user-friendly experience for outdoor enthusiasts who hunt and fish in Illinois or frequent the state’s waterways and IDNR-managed sites. It will feature lifetime user accounts for each client that can be used for all IDNR services — hunting, fishing, campground reservations and recreational vehicle registration.

The solution utilizes responsive design principles so patrons can use it on all devices, according to the release.

“We look forward to expanding our outdoor recreations services to assist Illinois’ active outdoor community,” said Sandi Miller, NIC’s vice president of outdoor recreation. “It’s part of our mission to make state services more accessible through digital government services, and this will certainly make enjoying the great outdoors easier in Illinois.”

Patrons can expect the new solution to launch during the first quarter of 2021.

Currently, one out of six hunting licenses in the nation is sold through an NIC system. NIC is a leading provider of outdoor recreation transactions, and with the addition of Illinois, NIC will process nearly 18 million outdoor recreation transactions annually.

NIC also provides outdoor recreation and payment solutions in 13 states, including Mississippi, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Alabama.
