Campground owners take the opportunity to meet with representatives at the trade show.

Campground owners and managers along the Mid-Atlantic Coastal states region can “Focus on the Future” when they attend the 27th Annual Mid-Atlantic Coastal States Campground Conference and Trade Show (MAC), March 12-14 in Dover, Del., at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, held by the New Jersey Campground Owners Association (NJCOA).

Joann DelVescio, executive director of NJCOA and the MAC event organizer, told Woodall’s Campground Management that the conference is always a good chance for campground owners and operators around the region to connect and enjoy time together.

“We really try to include a wide variety of educational seminars so hopefully everything is interesting to our attendees or at least the majority of seminars,” she said.

The three-day conference will feature two keynote luncheon speakers, 12 educational seminars and over 30 exhibitors.

Nicole Poisson, Kampgrounds of America Inc.’s (KOA) franchise development manager, will speak on the latest camping stats and trends during Tuesday’s (March 13) lunch.  Katie Denis, vice president of U.S. Travel Association, will speak during Monday’s (March 12) lunch about the U.S. Travel Association’s Project Time Off initiative.

“The two keynotes allow us to keep attendees informed about what is going on nationally,” said DelVescio. “It is always great when we can get the U.S. Travel Association here. We want them to pay attention to the campground industry and we want to keep a pulse on what things are going on regionally and nationally.”

All of the educational seminars feature new topics, from a session on refining social media skills to prepping for the future.

“We had an owner get injured due to a flash propane fire, so we have a session on propane safety,” said DelVescio. “We also are highlighting electrical code changes in another class.”

The trade show, featuring more than 30 companies and products for campground and RV park owners, will be held on Tuesday.

Monday evening at the Dover Downs race track, a race will be named in honor of the conference and Tuesday evening will feature the annual banquet and auction.

“This is a fun evening where everyone, including the exhibitors, are invited to socialize, share stories, reconnect with old friends and make new friends,” said DelVescio.
