There would be a bit more space to pitch your tent at Channel Islands National Park off the California coast under a proposal open for public comment. The campground is proposed to be built at Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island, according to the National Parks Traveler.
The campground, called for in the park’s 2015 General Management Plan, would include rustic campsites with a maximum capacity of 24 overnight visitors. The project is expected to begin in late summer of this year.
The updated plan incorporates suggestions from the first public comment period that took place last June and July. Modifications include an accessible restroom and the addition of an accessible campsite as part of the park’s commitment to making facilities, services and programs accessible for all.
Further information about the planning and compliance process, proposed action and instructions to submit public comment is available at this site.
