The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) has announced a sports-themed welcome reception sponsored by RMS North America will kick off it’s 2021 Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo (OHCE).
The special event takes place on Monday, Nov. 8, according to ARVC officials.
The welcome reception will be hosted at Jimmy Vs, a Raleigh-based restaurant dedicated to legendary North Carolina State basketball coach Jim Valvano, who passed away from cancer in 1993. Attendees are encouraged to wear gear from their favorite sports team to celebrate the start of OHCE2021.
“We’ll kick off OHCE2021 as you’ve never seen. In addition to enjoying an exciting event, attendees will make a meaningful difference in the fight against cancer just by showing up,” said David Basler, vice president of membership and marketing for ARVC. “Jimmy Vs will dedicate all the proceeds from what ARVC spends on food and beverage directly to the Jimmy V Foundation, which aims to ‘Achieve Victory Over Cancer’ through cutting-edge research. ARVC is proud to support this effort.”
The welcome reception will feature interactive games, a variety of food and beverage options and great entertainment, all included with OHCE registration.
“RMS is thrilled to sponsor ARVC’s welcome reception this year and help set the tone for the rest of the conference,” says Adelle Rodriguez, director of marketing, RMS North America. “The world of hospitality has been flipped on its head in the last 19 months, and we’re excited to have a reason to come together as an industry with ARVC and learn how to collaborate and cater to today’s campers and travelers. We hope everyone is as eager as we are.”
This opening networking event will also feature a live performance from North Carolina-based BMI singer-songwriter Josh Daniel.
Daniel’s Wilco-like sound can best be described as a soup of roots-rock, bluegrass and, soul and his fans have dubbed themselves “The Jamily.” Like most musicians, Daniel couldn’t tour during the COVID pandemic, so he took to Facebook to showcase his daily performances. By the time he approached 300 consecutive live shows, he had earned Pollstar’s #8 live-streaming artist of the year, garnered a call from Kelly Clarkson with an invitation to appear on her show, and drew the attention of The New York Times.
Daniel’s performance at the welcome reception is sponsored by BMI, one of the three performing rights organizations featured in ARVC’s industry-best music licensing program.
“ARVC has been a valued partner of BMI for nearly a decade,” says Jessica Frost, executive director, Industry Relations, BMI. “Music enhances the overall experience at any campground or RV park, and we appreciate opportunities like the welcome reception at ARVC’s Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo because it gives our songwriters a platform to share their music and the stories behind the songs that we all enjoy. Connecting our songwriters with our customers has always been a highlight of our partnership, and we look forward to many more years of working together.”
