Vicki Otto’s aunt and uncle asked for her help in putting together a fundraiser. Mike and Lorrie Niese own Huggy Bear Campgrounds in Middle Point, Ohio. Otto, of Ottawa, didn’t have to think very much, the Lima News reported.
“Just being out at the campgrounds and camping, it’s all about kids. I’ve always had a soft spot for St. Jude’s,” Otto said.
This is the third year, the campgrounds held a fundraiser to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“The first year we raised $43,000. The second year, $47,000 and now $50,000 this year for a total of $140,000 in three years,” Otto said.
The campground fundraiser had more than 1,300 people show up for a weekend of fun this year.
