Dan and Emily Fiske moved from Napa, Calif., earlier this year to take over the former Abert Rim Oasis RV Park. The couple changed the name to Oregon Outback RV Park and are in the process of making various improvements to the property, according to the Lake County Examiner.
Dan was in law enforcement for 16 years before transitioning to a career in the wine sales and hospitality business, which he did for six years. Emily worked in customer service and as a traveling nanny.
Dan and Emily are the proud father and stepmother to two children. Dan’s son, Konrad Fiske, started Marine Corps boot camp in early October. His daughter, Alyvia Fiske, is in her fifth year at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia and wrestles for Team USA.
Two to three years ago, the Fiskes came up with a plan to purchase an RV park and began to search for available locations online. They decided they wanted to be in the western U.S. and eventually were able to travel to scope out RV parks for sale. They looked at about seven different properties — some in the $1 million price range and others much lower.
Traveling to Lake County, they said they fell in love with Lakeview and then with the Abert Rim Oasis RV Park.
“The people made this home for us immediately,” Emily said of the area. Dan mentioned that “the community has been very welcoming.”
