Campgrounds throughout Pennsylvania are seeing increased demand and highlighting the benefits of mid-week camping.

Editor’s note: This message was sent out by the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) in response to a number of inquiries about campsite availability.

Recently the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) has received calls and emails from a considerable number of campers asking whether campgrounds and RV parks have any availability for upcoming summer holidays and weekends.

Camping is among the cleanest, safest, healthiest and best values for family vacations. That consideration has spiked popularity in camping and outdoor recreation. The long cold winter and the pandemic that kept many folks at home for months has encouraged families to look to get out and camp. RV sales are through the roof.

The PCOA website (pacamping.com), which promotes 232 member campgrounds, has a feature called “Pick A Site” where campgrounds with available reservations for upcoming weekends are listed. This feature is great for campers looking last minute to find a campsite.

PCOA Executive Director Jason Vaughan explains, “With campgrounds being busier than ever, the answer may be booking a stay between Sunday and Thursday, days which traditionally have more campsite availability. With internet access, you could take the family camping and still get to attend that virtual meeting…in between Discovering Your Outdoor Moments. Campfires, smores, fishing and hiking are a few of the ways that you can spend your time mid-week this summer.”

Pennsylvania campgrounds are looking forward to hosting you in the coming months. While we are all looking for a return to normalcy soon, in the meantime PCOA parks have guidelines that will help ensure the safety of individuals and families while they are engaging in outdoor activities.
