Everything is ready to go for the 51st Annual Convention of the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA), which is Nov. 9-11 at Skytop Lodge, a 1920s classic luxury resort in Skytop, Pa. – the heart of the Pocono Mountains.
“We do encourage out-of-state participation and look forward to a great time networking with everyone,” said PCOA President Jason Vaughan.
Beverly Gruber, PCOA executive director, said they expect a large number of attendees, based on registrations ahead of the conference. “It’s going very, very well,” she said.
Gruber was especially eager for participants to get the opportunity to listen to the event’s keynote speaker, Craig Dietz. Dietz, a Pennsylvania native, was born without arms or legs. Despite this, Dietz has accomplished more in his life than most, including having completed the Pittsburgh triathlon every year since 2008 and having swum the 4.4-mile Chesapeake Bay.
The theme for the convention is “Strategies for Success,” which was chosen to assist the owners and operators who attend the show to reenergize and plan for their upcoming season.
More than a dozen educational and professional development sessions are planned. The seminars include:
- Campground Industry Trends
- Information Security
- Solving Media Murder
- Keeping Rental Units in Top Condition
- Obamacare and How it Affects Our Industry
- Retirement Planning
- Innovative Ways to Increase Site Revenue
- Best Store Ideas
- Tying It All Together
- Making Improvements People Can See
A dozen roundtable topics will also be held. This dialogue is very popular with attendees.
In addition to the educational content, the owners and operators are encouraged to attend the trade show, which will feature more than 70 vendors.
Rounding out the convention program are the Fun Auction on Monday evening, the annual banquet on Tuesday evening and the Communication Awards and keynote speaker on Wednesday.
