Just in time to support goals for fitness and fun in 2022, Golden Village Palms RV Resort in San Jacinto Valley, Calif., has tapped pickleball pros, Kyle & Casey McMakin, to head its popular pickleball program, including free clinics and round-robin tournaments with cash prizes, according to a press release.
The resort’s inaugural championship season kicked off in January and runs through May. Recognized as the largest luxury RV resort in California, Golden Village Palms is home to 10 championship pickleball courts, notes the release.
“Our courts were constructed specifically for pickleball and we’ve upped our game by bringing two of pickleball’s top players to help guests reach their next level. The sport’s popularity has skyrocketed over the last few years and we’re offering a robust pickleball program to match consumer demand,” says James Lim, senior vice president at Sunland RV Resorts, which owns the resort.
Pickleball is one of America’s fastest-growing sports, states the release. A pickleball court is approximately one-third the size of a tennis court, which makes pickleball an easier racquet sport to master than tennis. It’s a safe way to socialize with others and these elements have contributed to its popularity. Pickleball was invented outside of Seattle in 1965 and is now an international sport.

Kyle & Casey McMakin are the co-directors at the Pickleball Training Center in San Diego. Former Division 1 tennis players, Kyle and Casey have been teaching tennis to all ages and levels since 2003. A 5.5 rated player, Kyle has won two Triple Crowns – winning the gold in singles, doubles and mixed doubles at a single tournament.
