It wasn’t your typical day at the park at the Lariat RV Park in La Feria, Texas, Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors like Judy Sweetin told KGBT-TV, Harlingen, they didn’t know what was going on, “I heard the noise and then I heard the commotion and so we looked outside the window and saw the white car.”

At first, residents thought it was a car crash but what really happened took everyone by surprise.

“What I saw inside the car…I couldn’t believe it,” said Sylvia Valdez a neighbor at the park.

Inside a white Grand Marquis, there was close to a thousand pounds of marijuana.

Mercedes Police told Action 4 an off-duty border patrol agent spotted the car on FM 491 and tried to pull it over, but when the driver refused to stop, the chase was on.

He ultimately ended up at the Lariat RV Park in La Feria where on lookers said the man partially crashed into the office, jumped out and ran away.

Police were able to arrest the man a short time later.

For residents in the RV park they told Action 4 they were just thankful that no one was injured.
