As part of this celebration, RAC is proud to announce a donation of $50,000 to the foundation.
The event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Group Tent facility at the Mount Rushmore KOA at Palmer Gulch near the rodeo grounds. This event is free for the entire community and will feature catered appetizers and drinks, as well as Black Hills cowboy rock music by The Lonely Rangers.
The Mount Rushmore Resort at Palmer Gulch has a long history of serving guests. In 1925, a mining engineer named John Bland and other investors purchased land along Palmer Creek to develop a country club in the heart of the Black Hills. They could not have imagined today’s expansive resort, stated the release.
“RAC took over in 1972 and further developed the Mount Rushmore Resort into a destination full of great RV and tent camping sites, camping and deluxe cabins,” noted the release. “Today’s Mount Rushmore Resort at Palmer Gulch is made up of two great facilities for travelers — The Mount Rushmore Lodge and the Mount Rushmore KOA, which has earned “resort” status from KOA.
The Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch is located at 12620 Highway 244, Hill City, S.D.
