Temporary relief has arrived for visitors once trapped at a campground in Alabama’s Baldwin County. A damaged road, which left about 50 people stranded, has been repaired.

WKRG TV reported that record rains and flooding destroyed the road in and out of Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Elberta. Vacationers and full-time residents at the campground could not drive out.

Park owner Gerald Carlisle appealed to the county for help, but was told he was on his own, since the road is on private property.

Carlise spent $4,000 on a temporary road over the creek. He’ll have to spend $10,000 more on a new, fully functioning road. Carlise has applied for FEMA assistance.
