Rose Point Park Cabins & Camping in New Castle, Penn., was awarded the Most Creative Activity award from the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association (PCOA) at their convention held in December.
The program entry which took home the gold was their Wizards, Fairies and Trolls weekend where they created an enchanted forest complete with fairy houses, according to Allied News.
The description of the entry submission included children partaking in the day’s activities with a “Potions Class” of making “goop,” “gack” and “slime,” all made with simple household ingredients of cornstarch, borax, glue and water.
A walk in the enchanted forest included a lush woodland of hemlocks, ferns and moss, and 15 tiny houses made of leaves, sticks, bark and stones were found nestled into crooks and tree trunks. After exploring the fairy houses, each child launched a “wish boat”, made simply of a candle on a piece of bark, into the stream.
The grand finale of the evening, back at the park, was a stunning performance of fire dancers. Debby Yeager, the campgrounds owner said, “It truly was a magical event for campers of all ages.”
