The city council in Vernon, British Columbia, is supporting yet another bid for an RV park at O’Keefe Ranch, AM 1150, Kelowna, British Columbia, reported.
The cash-strapped ranch made a similar proposal some years ago but it was rejected by the Agricultural Land Commission. Councillor Mary Jo O’Keefe says this scaled down version is different.
“The O’Keefe Ranch has redone the sightlines and tried to be more complimentary to what the Land Commission was hoping to achieve so we’re hoping that this is going to be complimentary now and they’ll use it,” said O’Keefe.
She says almost all of the land is still free for agriculture and demonstrations. The council has also advanced the ranch $75,000 in grant and insurance money, about half the total, to allow the historic site to set up for business this year.
