October wholesale RV shipments grew by 5%, driven by an upturn in towable shipments for the first time in more than a year, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) reported on Monday (Nov. 26).
The improved condition of the RV industry came on the eve of the opening day of the National RV Show in Louisville, Ky.
Wholesale shipments totaled 28,400 units, a 1.8% increase over a year ago. Towable shipments totaled 23,800 units, a 1.3% increase over a year ago, while motorized shipments totaled 4,600 units for a 4.5% increase. The entire motorized increase was in Class C shipments as both Class A and B totals were flat for the month.
Year-to-date, all shipments totaled 309,500 units or 10% behind the 2006 pace.
