Barb and John Kudor, owners of the Salem/Lisbon KOA in Ohio.

The Salem/Lisbon, Ohio KOA Campground will be celebrating its first birthday on July 25 as a Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) franchisee.

The park, formerly known as the Stone Ridge Terrace Campground, is owned and operated by John and Barb Kuder. The campground is located at 33807 Winona Road in Salem, just 3 1/2 miles south of Salem’s Route 45 Bypass or 3 1/2 miles north of Lisbon’s Route 30, just west of Depot Road.

According to a news release, the July 25 event, which coincides with Barb Kuder’s birthday, includes a special offer for campers. All campers who stay at the Salem/Lisbon KOA on Tuesday, July 24, will receive the stay on Wednesday, July 25, for half price. That includes all campsites and cabins. The public is invited to visit the campground on July 25, partake of the Olympic-size heated pool and try out the new “Jungle Joe” water feature. Visitors can also relax at the 3 1/2-acre fishing lake for just half the price.

There will also be birthday cake served at 6 p.m. that day.

The day includes special events for junior and senior high school students, including a special Teen Night Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The night includes a “Teen Challenge,” where for just $5, teen can swim, eat hot dogs and pop and enter the Teen Challenge skills test.

While the Salem/Lisbon KOA has been a KOA for just a year, it has been a campground for 16 years.

A Great August Event. Pirates enjoyed the wet ride, as did the campers in the park.

“Every year, we’ve improved the facilities,” Barb Kuder said. “We started with just 32 sites, and now we have more than 100, along with cabin rentals and a tent village. All of the sites are full hookup sites. We even have new deluxe pull-through sites.”

The campground also has a poolside concession area and a lakefront pavilion.
