Three people were injured Saturday afternoon (June 28) in McDonald County, Mo., by a downburst, according to Gregg Sweeten, emergency management director, the Joplin Globe reported.
The three were in the Shady Beach campground along the Elk River near Noel when the storm came through about 4:30 p.m., downing trees and snapping a couple of power poles.
“We had quite a few trees down. Some of them were six to eight inches in diameter, pretty good-size trees,” he said.
The damage was near the campground and along Elk Springs Road.
He said all of the injuries appeared to be minor and were caused by flying debris.
