In late November, the supervisors voted unanimously to allow Sweetwater RV Park, in Moneta, Va., to expand. The park, located on White House Road, acquired an additional 10 acres. The expansion will allow the RV park to have 32 additional RV sites, bringing the total to 82, according to the Bedford Bulletin.
The RV park has been there since 2010 and Sheriff Mike Miller said he can’t recall any issues with it. District 2 Supervisor Edgar Tuck said the majority of the neighbors are fine with it.
The supervisors unanimously took the final step in making sure a developer doesn’t try to put apartments in an area the supervisors feel is inappropriate for them by defining them as extended stay hotels. The supervisors earlier had closed a loophole that a developer exploited to do just that. The revision to the zoning ordinance sets more stringent standards for these facilities. The rooms must be fully furnished and these facilities are no longer a use by right. A special use permit will now be required.
