A proposal for an upgraded 28-acre marina and new recreational vehicle park east of Winged Deer Park just off the Bristol Highway is making its way through the Washington County, Tenn., procedural process, the Johnson City Press reported.

Serenity Cove Marina and RV Park would remain on 3,000 feet of Boone Lake frontage and be the closest marina to Johnson City. It also is near a high-traffic area.

The property includes a restaurant, two rental houses, 80 boat slips, with room for 300 additional slips, eight houseboat sites, fishing docks, as well as opportunities for boating, canoeing and other outdoor activities.

The general concept plan includes the addition of up to 71 spaces for recreational vehicles, which must meet relatively new county campground regulations. If approved, this would be the fourth campground in Washington County.

A decade-long restriction on the placement of Washington County campgrounds was lifted in February when the County Commission approved new regulations that grew the number of allowed districts from one to eight.
