“This is an exciting acquisition for us,” said Ricky Jenkins, president of The Jenkins Organization of Houston, Texas, which acquired its first Jellystone Park location in Pelahatchie, Miss. last year.
A newcomer to the RV resort business, The Jenkins Organization has acquired six campgrounds in the past two years, has broken ground on two others, and has three additional developments in permitting. The company is particularly interested in the Jellystone Park franchise network because of its focus on providing family-friendly attractions, activities, and entertainment, noted the release.
Business at the Jellystone Park in Pelahatchie nearly doubled after The Jenkins Organization completed its first round of improvements. The company plans to make similar upgrades to the Milton location in advance of Memorial Day.
Improvements will include new attractions such as human foosball, laser tag, a jumping pad, a gaga ball pit, and Water Wars games and the addition of cabanas and cosmetic improvements to the swimming pool and water park areas. The Jenkins Organization also plans to install new glamping tents and add more rental cabins at the park, double the size of the park’s ranger station, add 50 golf carts for rental and expand the park’s food service offerings.
“We love the Jellystone Park model and its focus on providing family-friendly activities,” Jenkins said, adding that his company plans to acquire additional Jellystone Park locations and convert existing campgrounds to the Yogi Bear-themed franchise network in the near future.
