Led by another strong performance in the travel trailer sector, year-over-year towable retail registrations grew 17% in November and 16.6% for the first 11 months of 2015, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by category showed:

  • Sales for the high-volume travel trailer segment increased 21.5% for the month and 20.3% year-to-date.
  • Fifth-wheel registrations rose 7.8% in November and 8.5% for the first 11 months.
  • Folding camping trailer sales grew 9.4% for the month and were flat year-to-date, up 0.5%.
  • Park model RV sales edged down 2.3% for November but gained 9.9% for the first 10 months.

Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through the first 11 months with a 37.9% share of the market, ahead of Thor Industries Inc. owning a 35.2% share and Jayco Inc. with a 13.7% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailers through November with a 39.2% market share, followed by Thor (33.4%) and Jayco (14.9%). Thor held the largest market share for fifth-wheels (46.3%) followed by Forest River (30.9%), Jayco (9.9%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.9%).

In folding camping trailers, Forest River led for the first 11 months with a 62% market share, followed by Jayco (16.5%) and Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (10.2%). Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. led the park model segment with a 16.2% market share, followed by  Skyline Corp. (12.6%) and Forest River (7.9%).
