As the weather warms up, a popular campground and recreation area near Corning, Iowa, is preparing to roll out some improvements, radio station KMA reported.

Lake Icaria has several renovation projects that are in various stages of completion for the upcoming camping and fishing seasons. Adams County Conservation Director Dan Carl said campgrounds at the lake are scheduled to be opened soon.

“The Lake View Campground will be open starting April 15th,” said Carl. “That’s the campground with the cabins in it. We’re going to open eight of the 14 cabins April 29th and four more on May 26th.”

Carl said workers have been busy adding restrooms on the back side of several cabins at the Lake View campsite, as well as two new shower houses. Additionally, Carl says a large sewer renovation project was recently completed.

Work also continues on the lake’s other campground, Timber Ridge. In November 2014, voters passed a $1.3 million bond issue to help pay for upgrading the aging campsites to modern, full-service sites that can accommodate larger campers. Carl said the improvements were needed because of the age of Timber Ridge.

The renovations on Timber Ridge are expected to be completed by July 1.
