The U.S. Forest Service announced the Red Cloud Campground south of Nebraska’s Chadron State Park is now open and available for use, radio station KCSR reported. It had been closed for several month for timber thinning and the removal of dead timber and hazard trees.
Acting Pine Ridge District Ranger Karen Hartman said the agency is “pleased to reopen the campground well ahead of schedule,” adding that the project was undertaken to assure the safety of the public.
Red Cloud Campground is about nine miles south of Chadron along Highway 385.
