Overnight accommodations for RV, yurt and cabin sites are now available at Explore Park in Roanoke County, Va., according to virginiafirst.com.
“We’re excited,” said Scott Ramsburg, of Roanoke County Parks and Recreation. “It’s been a number of years coming, but we believe Explore Park is on a great trajectory to be an outdoor recreation center that serves both the interests of locals and tourists to our region.”
Four new hand-built cabins are now available along with four new yurts and a bath house. The new cabins and yurts are hand-built by a local business, Don’s Cab-Inns.
The cabins include a queen-sized bed, rope ladder leading to a loft and provide a rustic experience for those that use it. It also includes heating and air conditioning.
The yurts sleep up to six people and include a private bathroom. These do not come with heat.
Ramsburg says the new addition for Explore Park will provide tourists and locals a unique outdoor opportunity.
“The great part about Explore Park – it feels like you’re out here in the wilderness but it’s not that far from home,” said Ramsburg. “It’s only a 15 minute drive and you’re in downtown Roanoke for all the access to the shopping and dining here.”
