The Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners‘ (WACO) 60th annual convention and expo remained busy throughout its second day, with many session rooms filled.

The second day of the conference in Stevens Point, Wis., focused mainly on education with morning sessions that included topics on pool safety, Canva, social media marketing and more.

During lunch, Mark O’Connell, from the Wisconsin Counties Association, gave a speech on leadership and why it is so important for park owners to demonstrate leadership to their campers and employees.

A lunch panel was also held that included O’Connell, Andrew Nussbaum, from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism; Mike Ochs, from the RV Industry Association; James Kaplanek, from the Wisconsin DATCP; and Adam Payne, from the Wisconsin DNR, which focused on how state agencies are working together to help parks.

Afternoon sessions included a look at public relations, ancillary income, pet activities and more.

Attendees enjoyed a steak and shrimp dinner, along with a National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds update presented by president and CEO Paul Bambei. Later in the evening, WACO held its PAC auction, which helps support legislative efforts on behalf of the association.

The convention opens today (March 17) with more education sessions in the morning before the expo opens at 1 p.m. More than 160 vendors are set to take part.
