The Wisconsin Association of Campground Owner’s (WACO) 2018 Convention is set to take place from March 13-18 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Convention Center in Stevens Point, Wisc., and includes a two-day trade show.

Deemed the largest campground convention in the nation by WACO, the convention is only open to registered campground owners. For details on how to register you can click here.

Lori Severson, WACO’s executive director, told Woodall’s Campground Management that the convention will kick off on Wednesday, March 14 with courses that campground operators need to continue operating their businesses, including certificate courses by ServeSafe, CPO Pool School and NFPA 1194 training.

“We also have some security training that includes what to look for when it comes to drugs in a campground,” said Severson. “We are also excited to have an IRS mock audit. Who doesn’t want to know what they will ask before it’s you in the chair next to them?”

Severson also highlighted a plethora of other classes, including social media sessions, legal sessions on hiring and the proper way to remove problem campers. There is also a new session on managing employees, employee structure, working with family, and a new program on work and life balance.

Throughout the entire convention WACO will be hosting more than 50 sessions.

“So there is something for everyone,” said Severson.

A bus trip to Rivers Edge Campground in Stevens Point will give convention attendees a chance to socialize. WACO will host a dinner at Bullheads, and a ‘Cracker Barrel’ and best idea contest during the trip.

Severson said that last year the trade show portion of the convention had 191 vendors in attendance and that they expect the same number this year. So far the convention has attracted 12 new vendors.

Severson pointed out that WACO will host a dinner on Friday (March 16) evening for vendors in attendance.

WACO is accepting registrations for businesses that want to take part in the trade show as a trade member.  To get early bird pricing on booths businesses must register by Jan. 10. You can register for the trade show or look at convention sponsorship opportunities by clicking here.

WACO is also hosting a drawing where one lucky convention attendee will win $1,000 to spend at the trade show.
