Franklin County (Wash.) commissioners are considering moving TRAC Center’s recreational vehicle park from under the management of the event center, the News Tribune reported.

The change would mean that the Franklin County RV Park, which unlike the event center is profitable, would hire a separate manager from the TRAC Center, said county auditor Matt Beaton. The RV park manager would report directly to the county administrator.

“That will create the control and independence we have been looking for,” Beaton said.

Mowing and property care operations for the RV park, which opened in 2004 between the baseball stadium parking lot and the TRAC Center, would be outsourced to a private operator, Beaton said.

The idea to keep an “arm’s-length” relationship between the event center and RV park was recommended in a report from Beaton’s office to the county commissioners.

The event center is jointly owned by the county and Pasco, with each paying half the operating costs, but the county has sole ownership of the RV park. The county has used revenue from the RV park to help offset its share of losses from the event center.
