WCM Show LogoJeff Sims, senior director of state relations and program advocacy at the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (National ARVC), joined WCM’s Outdoor Hospitality Update on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to chat about the work he did this past spring to ensure RV parks and campgrounds are classified as “essential businesses” by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), a division of the Department of Homeland Security and the other legislative efforts he has been working on.

Sims noted that park owners should not be concerned about being forced to remain open during emergencies. He noted during the show that he has confirmed that would not be the case and that the reclassification will help ensure park owners avoid being forced to shut down, something that occurred for many at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sims also spoke on the work National ARVC is doing to prepare park owners for electric vehicles and the work he is doing on the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) front to ensure park owners have time to fix items before they incur monetary punishments if sued for ADA issues.
