High water levels are causing problems at a campground in Grand Traverse County, Mich., according to 9 & 10 News.
It means campers will most likely find themselves without a campsite next year.
Bassett Island – which is next to Power Island – is seeing high water levels, which are making it difficult to service the restrooms. The two islands are connected by an isthmus, but that strip of land is underwater. So, it now takes a crew of five, using pull-ropes, just to haul in a sewage pumper.
The county says that’s just not practical.
Unless water levels recede significantly, Bassett Island will most likely be closed to camping in 2020.
