Thirteen campgrounds and picnic areas in Arizona have been temporarily closed due to suppression activity on the Horseshoe 2 Fire, KVOA-TV, Tucson, reported.

According to Heidi Schewel with the U.S. Forest Service, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday (May 24), the following campground and picnic areas were closed until further notice:

  • Pinery Canyon
  • Rustler Park Campground
  • Herb Martyr Campground
  • John Hands Campground
  • Sunny Flat Campground
  • Stewart Campground
  • Idlewilde Campground
  • Bathtub Campground
  • Rucker Forest Camp Campground
  • Camp Rucker Group Site
  • Cypress Park
  • Sycamore
  • South Fork Picnic Area

In addition, fire restrictions are currently in place for the entire Coronado National Forest located north and east of Tucson.
