Heroes from all over the Midwest – members of the military, firefighters, police officers and emergency medical technicians – will converge May 17 on a Pardeeville area campground, and the public is invited to stop by and honor them.

This will be the second Heroes Weekend hosted by the Indian Trails Campground on Haynes Road just northwest of Pardeeville, Wis., the Portage Daily Register reported.

Tiffany Pargman of Indian Trails said many of the people in attendance are likely to be military veterans taking advantage of the campground’s offer of two nights for the price of one – something that many Wisconsin campgrounds offer to veterans during Armed Forces Day.

So far, she said, about 90 percent of the available sites have been reserved.

“They come from all over,” Pargman said of the veterans who will be camping, though she noted that most of them are from Wisconsin and Illinois.

But the event isn’t just for campers, she said. The community is invited to come out. And there’s plenty of parking at the campgrounds, she said.
