Construction of a new campground at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in Flagler Beach, Fla., officially got under way Thursday (Oct. 16) as dignitaries, park staff, friends of the park and others participated in a groundbreaking ceremony, the Daytona Beach News-Journal reported
Donald Forgione, state park services director, said, “We’re about to build a campground and campgrounds are so terrific because it’s a park experience that just keeps going and going — 24-hours a day. In a campground there’s things that go bump in the night that you usually don’t get to experience in a day-use park. So camping is such an important part to help raise our children and reconnect with our families.”
