The Lazy R Campground and Cabins has been a member of the Sheridan County (Wyo.) Chamber of Commerce for about 10 years and is open all year long. The Ranchester business was the site of this month’s chamber coffee Wednesday morning (March 29), and the focus of a brief presentation by co-owner Melissa Butcher, SheridanMedia.com reported.

Butcher said the campground has 31 spaces, and people stay anywhere from a few months to one individual who’s been there for five years. She said the campground’s residents often are people who are working on road construction or mine services support, and a lot of them are railroad workers. In addition, the campground provides a place for overnighters to stay as well.

Butcher said the campground has been around since the 1950s, and that also presents some challenges.

She said the final decision was not to change the size of the individual sites. She said the campground has a lot of return customers who stay there year after year and stay two or three weeks at a time. After the coffee, a number of the attendees stayed for tours of the campgrounds.
