The votes on a pair of controversial proposals to build new campgrounds in Delaware have been on hold for more than a year, and now some county leaders are saying the “waiting game” is unfair to those involved, television station WBOC reported.

The first proposed campground would be located in Lewes, and is tentatively called Love Creek RV Resort and Campground according to planning and zoning documents. The application was made by Jack Lingo Asset Management, which made their final presentation in a public hearing on Feb. 19, 2013.

The second campground, Castaways Massey’s Landing, would be located in the Long Neck area by Massey’s Landing. The coalition of developers, Facett Heirs LLC, Massey’s Landing Park, and Ida C. Faucett made their final presentation at a council public hearing on June 18, 2013.

In response to the 17- and 21-month wait, some neighbors, developers, and even some public officials said that they want action. Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission Bob Wheatley said he is concerned by the delays.

“It’s politics as usual,” he said. “It’s business as usual.”
