Bald Eagle Township, Pa., supervisors have tabled a decision to rezone three parcels of land totaling over 100 acres for possible development of an RV park, according to The Express.
The land in question encompasses 103 acres, most of it flood-prone, between Fishing and Bald Eagle Creeks and behind Millbrook Plaza and Walmart. It also adjoins the Clinton Country Club.
The property is owned by Louis Winner Jr. and is up for sale pending its zoning change from agriculture to open recreation, according to a representative of the company seeking to buy the acreage. Liberty Group LLC is the potential buyer, according to Jerry Clark, asset manager for Liberty Group.
Liberty Group, of Williamsport, is headed by developer Dan Klingerman, who also owns Clinton Country Club.
During a public hearing held before the supervisors’ regular meeting Monday (Jan. 20) night, many members of the public expressed concerns about what possible construction or improvements to the land could do to their properties.
Kim Stiles, who owns two rental properties at 8-10 Fairway View Drive, is concerned about what impact development of the land could have, including flooding.
“I’d be all for this, but is there going to be an impact study?” she asked.
Stiles said the land is prone to flooding and “after a couple of days of rain you could take a boat back there.”
Township solicitor Frank Miceli said an impact study has not been brought up yet.
“That’s something that will have to be discussed further down the road,” he said.
