On Friday (March 18) in two 3-2 votes, the Sawyer County (Wis.) Zoning County Zoning Committee recommended rezone requests and approved conditional use permits (CUP) allowing the former Hayward National Golf Course to be developed as a 197-site RV campground in the towns of Bass Lake and Hayward, according to the Sawyer County Record.
This is the third attempt in three years to change the site into an RV park.
The rezoning requests to change the former golf course from Agricultural 1 (AG-1) district to Residential Recreational 2 (RR-2) now must be ratified by the full Sawyer County Board of Supervisors in April. The board is not required to ratify the conditional use conditions.
If the board chooses not to ratify the rezone, the conditional use permits for the site will be voided because the property must be zoned RR-2 in order for e a campground to be developed.
