While Michigan campers are booking up their campsites for summer and fall, some campgrounds are coming back online after a construction hiatus, according to MLive.com.
From Northern Michigan to the Lakeshore, state campgrounds have been undergoing upgrades for necessities like electrical pedestals and shower buildings, as well as amenities like playgrounds and pavilions.
MLive asked the Michigan Department of Natural Resources which campgrounds would be reopening before Labor Day.
- Brighton Recreation Area: Improvements to the road and electrical at the Bishop Lake campground are underway. The majority of sites will reopen on May 21. The remaining 27 sites will reopen on July 2. The rustic cabins and campground remain open.
- Cheboygan State Park: The park’s modern campground is renovating its toilet and shower building. The campground is slated to reopen at the end of July. The lodge, cabins and rustic campground remain open.
