Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) is celebrating the addition of two new parks to its system of over 500 parks, along with the announcement that one KOA park is welcoming new owners.
New Owners at the Borden/Summerside KOA Journey
KOA is pleased to congratulate Emily Lawless and Spencer Dougay as the new owners of the Borden/Summerside KOA Journey. Passionate about hospitality, tourism and creating memorable guest experiences, the new owners bring a community-focused vision to the campground, building on its longstanding reputation as a welcoming stop for travelers exploring Prince Edward Island.
Located just off the Confederation Bridge, the Borden/Summerside KOA Journey is one of the first introductions to Prince Edward Island for arriving travelers, with easy access to coastal scenery, beaches, small towns, seafood restaurants, and local attractions.
“We immediately saw the potential for this campground to become more than just a place to stay. We want it to be a destination people return to year after year,” said Emily Lawless, owner of the Borden/Summerside KOA Journey. “Prince Edward Island has such a strong sense of community and hospitality, and we’re excited to create a campground experience that reflects that through live music, themed events, family-friendly activities, and meaningful connections with both travelers and locals.”
The Borden/Summerside KOA Journey offers a welcoming and social camping experience with spacious RV sites, a KampK9 dog park, recreational amenities, community gathering spaces and easy access to nearby island attractions. Under Lawless and Dougay’s care, campers can also look forward to themed weekends, live music featuring local artists, trivia nights, line dancing, jam sessions and future campground enhancements. Plans for continued growth include upgraded shared spaces, expanded recreational offerings, additional premium accommodations and environmentally conscious initiatives that complement the natural beauty of Prince Edward Island.
Located at 23714 Trans-Canada Highway, the Borden/Summerside KOA Journey is open May 15 to Oct. 4.

Emlenton/Allegheny KOA Journey Joins System
KOA is pleased to welcome the Emlenton/Allegheny KOA Journey to the KOA family of campgrounds. Backed by experience operating multiple KOA campgrounds, Benjamin Yount and Ugly Duckling Recreation Group are a family-run ownership group known for revitalizing properties with strong potential and creating welcoming guest experiences rooted in hospitality and community connection.

Located less than a mile off Interstate 80 in western Pennsylvania, the Emlenton/Allegheny KOA Journey offers travelers an easy-on, easy-off stop that still feels quiet and secluded thanks to the surrounding hills and wooded setting. The campground has long been a staple in the Emlenton area and is positioned to serve both road-trippers passing through and campers looking to explore the Allegheny region.
“When we first found the campground, we saw so much potential,” said Benjamin Yount, owner of the Emlenton/Allegheny KOA Journey. “We have a habit of purchasing campgrounds that need some love, which is where the Ugly Duckling Recreation Group name comes from. This property was especially appealing because it’s so conveniently located off the highway, while still offering guests a quiet, peaceful experience tucked behind the hills and forest. We’re excited to bring it into the KOA family and continue investing in a place that has meant a lot to the local community for years.”
At the Emlenton/Allegheny KOA Journey, campers will find amenities designed for both convenience and recreation, including 50-amp service, RV sites that can accommodate rigs up to 130 feet, Wi-Fi, propane, firewood, a pavilion and KampK9. Recreational amenities include a heated swimming pool, fishing pond, rec hall and arcade, playground, basketball court, shuffleboard, cornhole and a Gaga Ball pit. The campground is also continuing renovations to make short-term sites more big-rig friendly and plans to upgrade its playground this summer.
Located at 6297 Emlenton Clintonville Road in Emlenton, the Emlenton / Allegheny KOA Journey is open April 1 to Oct. 31.

Kansas’ Milford Lake KOA Holiday Welcomed to System
KOA is pleased to welcome the Milford Lake KOA Holiday to the KOA family of campgrounds. This partnership marks a significant milestone for the storied lakeside destination and promises continued investment in the campground’s infrastructure and guest experience.

Situated along the shores of Milford Lake, the Milford Lake KOA Holiday welcomes guests for boating, fishing, and outdoor adventure. The campground has cultivated a deeply loyal following, with generations of campers returning year after year, some for more than 35 consecutive years, making it a cherished tradition for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
“KOA’s reputation for quality and consistency aligned perfectly with our vision for this property,” said Bill Glennon, manager of the Milford Lake KOA Holiday. “We acquired the campground last year because we saw an opportunity to honor its legacy while elevating the experience for both returning campers and new families making lakeside memories for the first time.”
Since taking ownership, the team has invested in meaningful upgrades, including installing cable television and Wi-Fi service at every campsite. These improvements, combined with the campground’s stunning lakeside setting and the traditions families have built here, position Milford Lake KOA Holiday as a premier destination for generations to come.
The Milford Lake KOA Holiday offers lake-view campsites, a beach for swimming, direct boat access, and a dock for launching, positioning it as a premier destination for fishing, boating, and water recreation. The property’s proximity to Fort Riley (less than 20 miles away) and other regional landmarks adds further appeal for visitors exploring the area.
Looking forward, the ownership team is investing in growth that honors the campground’s community-focused identity. Plans include expanding accommodations with additional Deluxe Patio RV sites, cabins, and premium tent sites, while creating new gathering spaces designed to strengthen the connections that have defined the property for decades. These improvements reflect a core belief: that Milford Lake KOA Holiday thrives because it’s where families and friends build lasting traditions together.
Located at 302 Whiting Street in Milford, the Milford Lake KOA Holiday is open April 1 to Oct. 31.
