The National Park Service (NPS) announced Tuesday (May 5) that it has entered into a new contract for concession services and campground management at Shenandoah National Park (SNP). Under the terms of the contract, the park expects to generate millions in annual revenue while also guaranteeing that years of deferred maintenance will be completed, according to The Northern Virginia Daily.
The 15-year contract with Shenandoah Hospitality, LLC begins Jan. 1, 2027, and marks a shift at SNP, which had previously maintained the campgrounds while outsourcing concession operations to Delaware North Parks & Resort.
Shenandoah Hospitality will manage the park’s overnight guest lodging, food and beverage sales, retail and grocery operations, campground operations and camper services, fuel sales and stable operations.
Concession fees will add at least $2.5 million to the SNP’s annual budget for the next 15 years, a prospectus says.
