A pair of RV developments in the Mabel Lake area took steps forward at the Regional District of North Okanagan’s (British Columbia) board of directors meeting on Wednesday, May 20, according to the Salmon Arm Observer.
If built, the two separate projects could add nearly 150 RV units to the area.
Terry Laursen, a longtime developer in the Mabel Lake area, is proposing to build an RV park with as many as 127 units at 3315 Enderby Mabel Lake Rd., on a property he’s owned for more than 20 years.
Meanwhile, a proposal by Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC) for a similar project went forward without a hitch.
SDC is looking to create a campsite and rental cabins on Parkway Road in Mabel Lake, which would include 22 RV campsites and 10 cabin units.
The board unanimously voted to approve a development variance permit for the four-hectare property, which is owned by the province but Splatsin has a strong claim on.
