A new destination for camping, swimming and outdoor recreation is coming to Riverside (Iowa) after officials broke ground Thursday (Aug. 21) on the $35 million Blackjack Beach RV & Water Resort, according to Iowa’s News Now.
The resort will be built on roughly 200 acres along Highway 22 from Riverside Casino and Golf Resort. The property, which includes a 60-acre lake, has been owned by the developers for about two decades.
“We’ve been waiting for the right moment to decide what to do with it and now it feels like the right time,” Dan Kehl, CEO of Elite Casino Resort, said.
Plans for the property include 154 RV sites and a 70,000-square-foot aquatic park. The water park will feature a 447-foot lazy river, a 30-foot slide tower and an adult pool with a swim-up bar.
