The Fourth of July, typically the biggest camping weekend of the year, is just a month away, but it’s really just the beginning of another great camping season in the Lone Star State, according to a press release.
“We’ve got every kind of campground imaginable across the great state of Texas,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), which hosts TexasCampgrounds.com and TexasGlampingResorts.com.

Camping enthusiasts can search either website for leads on independently owned and operated campgrounds, RV parks and resorts that are not typically listed on government-run websites.
Schaeffer offered examples of the wide range of parks that Texas has to offer. These include:
— Jamaica Beach RV Resort in Galveston: This park complements its pull-through RV sites with many ways to cool off, including a beach-entry swimming pool, a family pool, an indoor pool, splash pads and a 700-foot-long lazy river. Other amenities include an 18-hole miniature golf course, nature trails, pickleball courts and an adults-only infinity spa and sauna. Hunt Brothers pizza and food truck options are also available on site.
— Oakdale RV Resort & Motor Court in Glen Rose: This historic park, which features RV and tent sites as well as rental accommodations, opened in 1925 as a campground and motor court, which were built around the 330,000-gallon Oakdale Plunge, the largest swimming pool in Texas at that time, according to the park’s owners. Oakdale is one of only a handful of private RV parks in the country listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A historic dance hall building with enough tables and chairs to seat up to 400 people is used for family reunions, weddings, quinceañeras, RV rallies, music concerts, and dances. Park amenities include a fire pit, an outdoor stage, a grill by the swimming pool and a dog park.
— Twin Oaks Resort in Alleyton: Located 60 miles west of Houston, this resort offers serene lakeside fishing, Grand Prix go-kart tracks and dancing under beautiful mature oak trees. Originally a ranch owned by Charlie Thomas, the famed former owner of the Houston Rockets, this 168-acre property has been transformed into an RV resort and event space for weddings, complete with its own dance hall.
TACO also offers the 2026 RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas, which is supported by advertising from prominent campgrounds, RV resorts and RV dealers in Texas, as well as Platinum Cottages, a prominent park model RV manufacturer whose units are widely used as rental accommodations and campgrounds and RV resorts.
RV and camping enthusiasts can order the free 2026 RV Travel & Camping Guide by visiting the TexasCampgrounds.com. The guide is also posted on the website in a digital page-turning format.
Based in Crowley, the Texas Association of Campground Owners is the trade association representing campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across the Lone Star State.
