Persistent rain and heavy downpours across British Columbia are causing evacuation orders and alerts, as well as flood warnings, on Vancouver Island and the province’s South Coast, according to Yahoo News.
Two evacuation orders have been issued on Vancouver Island amid heavy rainfall, including for a campground near Parksville, B.C., where dozens of long-term guests are staying.
A staff member at Pathfinder Camp Resorts in Parksville, located on Martindale Road, told CBC News that search and rescue crews were assisting in moving 70 seasonal guests to safety.
According to the Regional District of Nanaimo, the order was issued due to overflow from the Englishman River, which is under a flood warning.
