Documents signed Monday finalized the sale of Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure to the Breaks Interstate Park, officially bringing the Grundy (Va,) campground and related assets into the interstate park system, according to WVVA.
Under the agreement, the Breaks Interstate Park acquired all SGOA operations and 35 acres of property, including the campground’s five cabins, 19 RV pull-thru sites, 14 back-in sites and primitive tent camping.
The Breaks also reached terms with the Buchanan County Industrial Development Authority to acquire the Visitor Center and trailhead area that opens to Spearhead Trails’ Coal Canyon Trail.
As of Dec. 1, all campground and visitor center operations are managed by the Breaks Interstate Park. Park officials say day-to-day operations will continue as usual and the sale will not affect existing reservations. Funding for the acquisition came from the Anne and Gene Worrell Foundation.
